Watermelon Sugar Track Review

Welcome back to NoFollowers! After taking a week off for Father’s Day, we decided to return with a review of Watermelon Sugar by Harry Styles. It’s been rising on the charts since he released the video in May.

Fine Line, Harry Styles’ sophomore effort, has been out since December 2019, but he waited to release this single until now, for obvious reasons —this a quintessential summer song, breezy, easy and upbeat. The horns give this song a big, brassy (pun intended) punch and we’re always curious to see how many more songs he can write about fruit.

This is an extremely simple song, which is part of the appeal. It’s not layered, and it’s easy to understand. He repeats “watermelon sugar high” countless times throughout the track to drill it into our brains and make us want to buy it. Although it’s not exactly a statement piece, it doesn’t pretend to be something it’s not. It’s a classic earworm. The song is about the early stages of a relationship and the infatuation that comes with it,

Instrumentally, this song is pretty uncomplicated as well. It uses simple chords throughout and doesn’t switch it up much. The outright simplicity of the song is irritating at times, but it does maintain some interest with some guitars at he end.

So, don’t think too much about it, just enjoy.
